London, UK Wedding: Joanna + Phil

This past fall Beth and I travelled to the UK to shoot Joanna and Phil's wedding in Shenfield, Essex. It's hard to believe that a wedding could change your life but it certainly developed our passion to become London England wedding photographers! This was my first trip to England and I loved everything about it:

  • super friendly people
  • great curry
  • nice small towns like Shenfield and Billericay
  • train travel
  • the architecture
  • the wonderful cosmopolitan-ness of London (most of the people we saw in the city were not Anglos)

Joanna and Phil were such gracious hosts to us and we really look forward to going back to visit them for longer!30-09-10_Joanna-Phil-Wed1-24.jpg30-09-10_Joanna-Phil-Wed1.jpg

The first recorded wedding in this church took place in 1536. I don't have a lot of pictures of the inside during the ceremony because of a church policy but it was beautiful.

London Wedding : Colleen + Dave

Our good friend (and former summer camp nurse), Colleen, got married at the Idlewyld Inn on the first of May. It was really nice to get to meet Dave after hearing about him for so long!

It was a great spring day (not too hot) and everything was VERY green - a great backdrop for wedding photos.

What do you think? Let me know your favourite picture in the comments.

I must say, I really enjoyed the Idlewyld and the back courtyard was a great place for a small wedding. Thanks for having us over, Christine!

Alicia and Conor's "Day After" Shoot

This afternoon of shooting was great fun (as always with Alicia and Conor). We drove out to the camp of a friend of ours' near London and shot around this great old mansion that is the centre piece of the property. Alicia was brave out there in her strapless dress... after doing a 15 km run in the morning.

Oakely

When I was shooting my running portfolio shots in London with Sass & Cory (see here) I snapped off a couple of quick shots of Oakley - their 2 year old Vizsla.

He and Maverick wrestled in the snow (mostly not in the way of the shoot) for a good hour. Maverick thinks any hour in the snow is a good hour!08-11_SassCoryGrandpa020.jpg 08-11_SassCoryGrandpa023.jpg

Apparently that's his "sitting pretty" face. He makes others, I swear.

Party of Five at Western

I had an amazing afternoon on Monday shooting a Party of Five session with our friend Kristin. Kristin used to work for us at camp where we all called her Mazurka, a camp name she earned because it is a style of Polish folk music and Kristin was taking Music at the University of Western Ontario. Monday was Kristin's graduation and she and a group of four friends hired me to come and take pictures of them on their last day of university.

Congratulations to all of you and thanks for a fun afternoon!

Dave had to leave early so the last few shots were of just the women.

Thanks again!

YouTube - The Black Cab Sessions. Chapter Eighteen: The National

Such a great idea... The Black Cab Sessions are a series of videos with a one take/one song motto. Get a musician in the back of a London black cab and ask them to perform their favourite song. Simple. Brilliant.

There are some musicians that I didn't know and some old favourites like The National.

This is You've Done It Again, Virginia:
